Dorothy Ann Smith, 75, of Sedalia, died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

She was born June 30, 1937, in Sedalia, the daughter of the late Emil John and Amanda (Wischmeier) Bethke. On June 19, 1955, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Sedalia, she married Robert D. Smith, who preceded her in death on October 16, 2010.

She was a 1955 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. She worked as a checker at Bing’s, A&P, Mattingly’s and Scott’s Dollar Store. She was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and later Our Savior Lutheran Church. She enjoyed quilting at the church and Friday coffee club with her friends.

She is survived by three sons, James Smith and Michael Smith, both of Sedalia, and Kyle Smith, and his wife, Laura, of Warrensburg; a brother, Kenneth Bethke, and his wife, Mary Kay, of O’Fallon; three grandchildren, Michael Smith Jr., Rachel Goltry and Amber Reed; one niece, Renee Dyer; and two great-nephews.

Funeral service will be 11 am, Monday, July 30, 2012, at Our Savior Lutheran Church with the Rev. Andrew Tessone officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael Smith Jr., Derick Goltry, David Reed, Larry G. Meyer, Wilfred Meyer and Eugene Oelrichs. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call after noon on Sunday, July 29, where the family will receive friends from 2-4 pm, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
