Dorothy Elizabeth Homan, 89, of Sedalia, died Saturday evening, February 20, 2016 at the Fair View Nursing Home.

She was born February 14, 1927, In Houstonia, Missouri, daughter of Thomas Jefferson Fisher and Elizabeth Mahala Carrico. On February 18, 1989, in Sedalia, Missouri, she married Edwin L. Homan who died in January 2009. They Married late in life but enjoyed many years together. Also preceded in death were her four sisters, Mary Anna Sleeper, Katherine Williams, Dixie Fleming and Hazel Moore. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She lived with her husband Ed in the country for many years.

They liked to call there home little house on the prairie after her favorite show. They moved to Liberty Apartments later in life and had many friends there. They next moved to Stoney Ridge where Dorothy enjoyed playing bingo. After Ed passed away in January of 2009, Dorothy moved to Fair View Nursing Home in Aug of 2010 where she continued to enjoy bingo and belonging to the Red Hat Society. She made that her final home, living there for for last 5 years.

Dorothy had an independent spirit but totally loving and giving to all.

Mrs. Homan was a member of the First Christian Church. She worked for 41 years for Cramer Construction Company. She was a graduate of the Green Ridge High School where she was the Queen of the Senior Class. She had two basset hounds, Dixie Dog and Dreyfuss.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Wednesday at the Ewing Schutte Semler Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Chad McMullin officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:30 Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Steve Galliher, Jeff Moore, Ryan Galliher, Bret Williams. In honor of Dorothy's love of dogs the family suggests memorials to the City of Sedalia Animal Shelter.
