According to a Press Release from the STING Unit of the Sedalia Police Department an officer stopped a vehicle at 14th and Moniteau for failing to signal a turn. Upon contact with the driver and passenger of the van a search of the van was conducted. During the search the officer located methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and drug packaging and supplies. A further investigation revealed the driver 36-year-old Paula J. Benz was involved in methamphetamine distribution in the Sedalia area. Benz was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail where she was placed on 24-hour hold on state charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $50,000, with a court date to be decided.
