Like most of you, I am from the state of Missouri, so I cheer for the Missouri Tigers. The last year was pretty crazy for the MU, full of ups and downs. Unfortunately, many MU's headlines are about legal trouble. Everyone from coaches to current players to professional players from MU have made headlines for the wrong reason recently. Now that several MU athletes have been arrested, is the athletic department developing a bad reputation?

Aldon Smith

Most recently, San Francisco 49ers linebacker and former MU defensive end Aldon Smith was arrested for saying he had a bomb at a Los Angeles airport. Honestly, this is one of the dumbest arrests I have ever heard of. Most of us remember 9/11, so we also know the importance of airport security. Yes, it can be a hassle sometimes, but I am just fine with that. I would rather be annoyed and alive than dead or injured.

This is not Smith's first serious arrest this year. Last fall, Smith was arrested after his pickup truck apparently struck a tree. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and marijuana possession. Smith took a leave of absence from the 49ers after this incident. Looks like he may need to some more soul searching after belligerently, saying he had a bomb in a airport.

Dorial Green-Beckham

In only a few years with Mizzou, he has been arrested three times. The first time for marijuana, the second for riding around with alleged drug dealers, and now an even more severe legal situation.

According to espn.go.com, Green-Beckham was a suspect in an investigation by Columbia, Mo., police after an 18-year-old Missouri student said the receiver forced open her apartment door at 2:30 a.m. He was trying to see his girlfriend, a friend of the alleged victim. The victim claims Green-Beckham pushed her down at least four stairs. No charges where filed, but it sounds like Green-Beckham's girlfriend had to convince the victim not to press charges.

Zach Price

How do you manage to get arrested twice in one day? Well, you can ask Zach Price. Price is a Louisville transfer, who spent last year on the bench because of the NCAA transfer rules.

According to the Columbia Tribune, Price was involved in a dispute with a male roommate and a female. He followed them to a parking lot and blocked in their vehicle with his own vehicle, according to the report. In the incident, he struck one victim with a closed fist and shoved another to the ground when they tried to get involved.

Price was dismissed from the team shortly after his teammate Earnest Ross, filed a restraining order against him.

Frank Haith and Gary Pinkel

Frank Haith is the MU head basketball coach, and spent this years first five game suspended. Haith did not break the law, but he did violate NCAA rules,

According to The Kansas City Star, while Haith coached the Miami Hurricanes from 2004-11, he did not promote an atmosphere of compliance and failed to meet his responsibilities as a head coach when he did not monitor the activities of his assistant coaches, and attempted to cover for a former booster and convicted felon Nevin Sharpiro’s. I am all for second chances, but with this years players arrest, it might be time for Haith to go.

Gary Pinkel, the MU head football coach, was arrested last summer for driving while intoxicated (DWI). According to columbiatribune.com, Pinkel was stopped by a Boone County officer and received a citation for impaired driving. As most coaches, do I am sure Pinkel and his crew tell athletes not to drink and drive. Mistakes happen, but this was a terrible look for Pinkel before his season event started.

Clark, Rector, Penton, and Rupert

The MU related 2013-2014 arrests continue. More MU basketball and football players arrested for marijuana in the middle of March.

According to columbiatribune.com, Missouri basketball and football players Wes Clark, Shane Rector, Aarion Penton and Shaun Rupert were arrested in March for suspicion of marijuana possession charge.

I know college kids do dumb things, but this last year at MU was excessive. Smith, Pinkel, and Haith are not even students. GET IT TOGETHER MU, and GO TIGERS!

Let us know in the comments below if you think this years incidents hurt MU's reputation or if it was just a bad year.
