Edward C. Herman, 88, of Sedalia, died Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born August 28, 1925, in Kirkwood, a son of the late Edward A. and Amelia (Somerfield) Herman. On May 5, 1956, in Sedalia, he was married to Doris Carson, who survives of the home.

He served in the US Army from 1944 to 1946 during World War II, attained the rank of corporal and received a Purple Heart. He worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 37½ years. He was a member of St. Patrick Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Susan Havens, of Inola, OK; two sisters, Edna Gaffney, and her husband, Pete, of Kirkwood, and Virginia Miller, of Sullivan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Herman; and a brother-in-law, Jean Miller.

Graveside services will be at 2 pm Thursday, October 24, 2013, at Highland Sacred Gardens with Fr. Mark Miller officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 2591.
