According to a new survey, here are the top five things a "real man" should know: His wedding anniversary . . . basic do-it-yourself tasks . . . how to change a light bulb . . . how to tie a tie . . . and how to read a map.

A new survey asked more than 2,000 people to name the things a REAL MAN should know. Also . . . are we really still talking about what makes a "real man"? Isn't that notion already kind of outdated?

Anyway, here are the top 9 things a "real man" should know:

1. His wedding anniversary.

2. How to change a light bulb.

3. How to tie a tie.

4. How to read a map.

5. His significant other's favorite drink.

6. How to iron a shirt.

7. How to change a tire.

8. How to shave.

9. The right amount of aftershave and cologne to use.

I was reading over this list, and I thought: Wait, some of this stuff is just basic stuff that every person should know, male or female.  I mean, wouldn't you want your wife to know your wedding anniversary?  And who doesn't know how to put in a light bulb?  I don't think we're living in some kind of strange age where only men are allowed to know how to read a map.

But then, I do think there are some things that everyone should know - like how to drive a manual transmission. It's just handy! Not only that, but I really had a roommate in college who didn't know how to make a grilled cheese sandwich because their parents had never let them touch the oven...... ever.  At the age of 22, I taught a young adult how to make a sandwhich .

So that made me wanna turn to you for the basics: What's a task or skill that every man should know?  What about the ladies - what are the things a "real woman" should know?

Really yours,
Behka
