The five-day event, May 27 – June 1, 2018, focuses on the RV way of life with an extensive line-up of educational workshops and lifestyle presentations for the RV enthusiast. As Escapees RV Club approaches its 40th anniversary, Escapade will also be a celebration of the members who have helped the club continue to support the RVing lifestyle through benefits, education and community building.

First held in Bakersfield, Calif., in 1979, with 24 families attending, the event now attracts nearly 2,000 attendees from across the continent. For the serious RVer, Escapade is the premier opportunity to learn or refine the nuances of a lifestyle that continues to attract devotees. It is also a great way to meet like-minded people enjoying the adventure of nomadic living.  With more than 60,000 active club members, Escapade attendees may meet as strangers, but will part as friends.

From the opening ceremonies to the closing “Hitch-Up Bites,” guests stay busy. Each day starts with coffee and treats, followed by seminars covering topics from travel tips to technical aspects of RVing, craft sessions, socials and trips through the marketplace.

Each evening, attendees are entertained by top-rate acts including Reza, the world’s top touring illusionist, and Bil Lepp, a nationally renowned storyteller and comedian. The week’s entertainment also includes “Escapees Got Talent,” the annual talent show that allows attendees of all ages to share their skills and gifts with the crowd.

Wednesday, May 30, Escapade will host a complimentary community appreciation day at the Missouri State Fairgrounds as a special thank-you to the surrounding communities. Area residents are invited to visit from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. to learn more about the Club, its members and living the RV lifestyle. Guests may participate in the seminars, tour the RVs for sale, and shop the Escapade Market, exploring a wide selection of RV-related products and services available.

Escapade will wind down the week with a street festival at the fairgrounds on Thursday, celebrating the club’s 40th anniversary with live music, local food vendors and local wine and craft beer selections, as well as kids’ activities.

In keeping with the Escapees mindset of giving something back, Escapade will support the Sedalia community with a food drive during the event. Additionally, Escapade boosts the local economy as attendees shop, dine and enjoy the charm of the local businesses and attractions.
