Evelyn Maxine Homan passed away the morning of Thursday, June 6, 2013 having attained the age of 90 years, 10 months. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her.

Evelyn, the daughter of the late Samuel Hubbard and Mattie Langdon Adams, was born July 27, 1922 in Otterville, Missouri, She married Ernest Homan, on July 27, 1940. They were together for the next 55 years. To this union was born four children: daughter Wanda Rau, of Chamois, Missouri; son Eddie and his wife Wanda, of Sequin, Texas; daughter Willie Strange and her husband Jim of Sequin, Texas; and daughter Winona Anderson and her husband Tom of Waynesville, MO. She had 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by one sister, Susanna Homan, of Sedalia. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 5 sisters, and 1 brother.

Evelyn's first loves were always her faith in God, her husband, and her children. She was a member of the Tipton First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 60 years.

Evelyn's early life was spent in Otterville and Florence, and most of her married life was in Syracuse and Tipton where she and Ernest owned Homan's Hardware Store and Homan's Plumbing. She spent her golden years in Waynesville, MO and Seguin, TX.

Evelyn worked as a cook for the Tipton School District, a clerk at the Ben Franklin Store, a screen printer for Fischer Manufacturing and later as a cook at the Tipton Manor Nursing Home before retiring.

Evelyn was a gifted cook and artist. She participated in many arts and crafts activities through the years including oil painting and ceramics, and had beautiful handwriting. She also loved all handcrafts such as quilting, embroidery, braiding rugs, knitting, and crocheting rugs. Evelyn also loved reading and flower and vegetable gardening.

Funeral services are planned at the Tres Hewell Mortuary in Seguin, Texas on Monday, June 10 and at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, Tipton, Missouri on Friday, June 14, 2013. Visitation services will occur on Thursday, June 13 from 5:00 to 6:30 with Eastern Star Services following at 6:30 at the Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Tipton.

Memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, American Cancer Society, or American Heart Association.
