Evelyn Newbill, 91

Evelyn Newbill, 91, of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013 at her home. She was born on March 27, 1922, in Sedalia, a daughter of Archie and Pansy (Cox) Burris.   On January 1, 1940, in Sedalia she was united in marriage to Ira S. Newbill Sr., who preceded her in death on August 21, 1960.  Evelyn enjoyed being outdoors. She loved flower gardening and cooking. She was a member of Quinn Chapel AME Church, Sedalia.  She is survived by five children, Sharon Cocklin of Sedalia, Jean Newbill of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Ira S. Newbill, Jr. of Sedalia, Gary Newbill of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Kelvin Newbill of Sedalia; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her close companion and friend, Helen Hutchinson of Sedalia.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three children, Carmen Goodwin, Joyce Williams, and Nat Newbill, Sr.; one brother and one sister.   A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, with Walter and Joyce Foster officiating.

Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia. Pallbearers will be Conyus, Shadale, Nat Jr., Antoine, Chaz and Rashib Newbill. Honorary bearers will be Kelvin, Ira, Donnie and Andre Newbill. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel on Wednesday, from 12:30 pm until service time.
