Evelyn Patricia “Patti” Howard, 72, of Sedalia, passed away, Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at her home. She was born on March 25, 1941, in Pittsfield, IL, a daughter of Charles David and Mary (Hillman) Rupert.   On October 21, 1962 in Quincy, IL, she was united in marriage to William R. Howard, who survives of the home.

Patti’s two loves were her grandchildren and fishing. She was an RN and held various hospital and nursing positions, including the school nurse for Smith Cotton High School. She retired from nursing in 1995. Patti was the CEO of Liberty and Tambo apartments NBA First Christian Church. She was the moderator for Mid America Region Disciples of Christ and served on the national board. Patti was a member of the First Christian Church, Sedalia.   She is survived by three children, Tim (Garianne) Howard of Olathe, KS, Mike (Angie) Howard of Rolla, MO, and Susie (Jeff) Vielhauer of Kansas City, KS; one sister, Ann Mordt of Sun City, AZ; eight grandchildren, Jason, Nicole, Addyson, Gracyn, Audrey, Ella, Madeline, and August; and numerous nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, William David Howard.   A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, June 1, 2013 at First Christian Church, Sedalia with Michael T. Howard and Rev. Chad McMullin officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park, Sedalia.   Pallbearers will be John Swearingin, Tom Ragan, David Menifee, Richard Parkhurst, Keith Howard, and James Howard.   Honorary bearers will be James Holman, Otis Thomas, and Dick Reichert.   The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00-10:30 am prior to the service.   Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Christian Church of Sedalia or the American Cancer Society.
