Christmas is just around the corner. The spirit of the Christmas Holiday is giving. For over thirty years Pettis County Community Santa has given to those in need in Pettis County. Pettis County Community Santa allows those that are in need each year to be able to provide a Christmas to their families. The organization exists through the generosity of the Pettis County support. The gifts and toys provided by Pettis County Community Santa are presented to the parents so that they can retain a sense of pride in this holiday tradition.

In 2015, Pettis County Community Santa served over 600 families, which included nearly 2,300 total individuals. There were 1,365 children that were served by your donations. These numbers have only gone up over the course of the years and your donations are needed.

If you are a family in need there are requirements that have to be met in order for you benefit from Pettis County Community Santa.

“We aim to assist as many families as possible,” said Pettis County Community Santa Board Member Carol McMillin. “Our applicants must meet the poverty guidelines as set by the Family Support and Children’s Division and must show proof they reside in Pettis County.”

Applicants are encouraged to stop by Santa’s Workshop, located in the State Fair Shopping Center, behind Kmart and Bing’s, starting Nov. 1st and continue til Dec. 2nd. There will be forms to fill out. Parents will be asked to identity toys that on their children’s wish list.

Pettis County Community Santa is known for giving family friendly gifts and are geared towards hands-on play and family interaction and learning. Each family also receives a board game, along with books, stuffed animals and more.

With the increase in participants for Pettis County Community Santa, donations are greatly needed. While the focus of Community Santa is during the holiday season board members are constantly looking for deals with cash donations that are raised through the year.

“We work diligently to be good stewards of the monies by purchasing toys on a year round basis to take advantage of all sales and by partnering with businesses, civic groups and individuals,” said Pettis County Community Santa Board Member Betty Albrecht. “Our commitment each year is to see that no child is left out and has a story to share with their friends when they go back to school after the New Year.”

Pettis County Community Santa is encouraging area businesses to host or dedicate fundraisers between now and the end of year to assist with donations. Donations can be given to Pettis County Community Santa by contacting Carol McMillin at 660-473-0204 or Betty Albrecht at 660-473-2283.

The elves and volunteers of Pettis County Community Santa are already busy setting up shop this month and appreciate your support.

Donations can be dropped off at any toy donation site or at the workshop, and monetary donations can also be mailed to PO Box 43, Sedalia, Mo., 65302-0043. For more information, call 660-473-2408.
