Additional Information

The community has followed their triumphs and tribulations the past year as the Healthy U class of 2012 has collectively lost more than 470 pounds. On Thursday, the community has the opportunity to celebrate the students’ achievements and meet the 2013 students at A Night of Inspiration.

The Healthy U class of 2012 will graduate at the event at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3, at the Stauffacher Theatre on the campus of State Fair Community College. The 12 students selected for the class of 2013 will also be revealed for the first time at the event, which is free and open to the public.

Winners of the Healthy U class of 2012 and the community contest, which began in August, will also be announced. The person with the highest percentage of weight loss from the Healthy U students and the community contest will each receive prize packages valued at more than $1,200.

Final weigh-in for the community contest will begin at 6 p.m. Participants must be weighed by 6:30 p.m. in order to be eligible for the prize.

The prize packages include a one-year membership to Total Fitness Gym, a “Day at the Spa” package from Bodyworks Day Spa, $250 gift certificate to Lockett’s Fig Leaf Boutique, $100 gift card to Woods Supermarket, a 17-piece set of high quality cookware underwritten by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City, a $20 gift certificate to Trendi Reflectionz and a $20 gift certificate to the Sedalia Area Farmers’ Market.
