‘Salute to Veterans’ Prepares for Auction for its 30th Airshow

Just in time to kick off holiday shopping, the Salute to Veterans Corporation announces its annual fund-raising auction.

This coming May will mark the 30th annual airshow that the not-for-profit organization is hosting in Columbia. The event is held each year over Memorial Day weekend, as an opportunity to recognize, honor, and thank all veterans and active duty members of the Armed Services of the United States of America and its Allies, past and present, both living and dead.

The event takes the work of hundreds of volunteers – none of whom are paid – and all funds that are raised or donated are used solely for the purpose of organizing and hosting the annual airshow and parade, or conducting educational programs, events, and meetings to recognize and honor the aforementioned armed services members.

On Oct. 22, the Corporation will be hosting its annual silent auction at 1 p.m. followed by the live auction at the Elks Lodge of Columbia (4747 Elk Park Drive East, Columbia, Mo., 65201). The event itself is FREE, but registration is required for attendance. RSVP by emailing airshow@salute.org, or by calling (573) 446-6520 and leaving your name as well as all those in your party.

Items featured include handmade Shiloh Sharps knives, assorted military paraphernalia both historic and rare, crystal decanters, glassware, and pewter items, fine paintings and prints, Filippo Berio olive oil baskets, and a matching diamond and sapphire bracelet and ring set.
