SUMMARY:Daum Presents Film Program
DESCRIPTION:The Daum Museum of Contemporary Art will present a free film program Oct. 27 in conjunction with its current exhibition “Remix: Selections from the International Collage Center.” “Portrait: Joseph Cornell\, May Wilson\, and Ray Johnson” features three intimate film portraits of artists whose work is included in “Remix.” The films will be shown from 1-3:30 p.m. in the Stauffacher Theatre on the State Fair Community College Sedalia campus. “Cornell 1965\,” filmed and edited by Lawrence Jordan in 1965\, is nine minutes. Filmed at Joseph Cornell’s residence in Queens\, N.Y.\, the film contains some of the only known footage of the reclusive artist. “Woo Who? May Wilson\,” directed by Amalie R. Rothschild in 1970\, is 33 minutes. This film is a portrait of artist May Wilson (1905-86)\, former “wife-mother-housekeeper-cook” who\, at age 60\, moved to New York City where she transformed herself into the “Grandma Moses of the Underground.” “How to Draw a Bunny\,” directed by John Walter in 2002\, is a 90-minute biographical documentary on Ray Johnson that attempts to reveal the artist’s elusive personality and restore him to his rightful place among 20th century artists. For more information\, call (660) 530-5888 or visit the Web site at www.daummuseum.org. Museum hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
