After several months of planning and renovation to the former Goody's site in the Thompson Hills Shopping Center, T.J. Maxx is set to open on Sunday in Sedalia.

“Our newest store in Sedalia will offer an ever-changing selection of high-quality, on-trend and brand-name merchandise at the amazing prices that T.J.Maxx is known for. Our buyers search the globe to discover the best in every department, and we’re excited to bring those finds to a new neighborhood,” said Tim Miner, president of T.J.Maxx. “With thousands of new items delivered to our stores every day, we know our shoppers will find something surprising and unexpected every time they shop.”

The Sedalia grand opening will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 8. Reusable bags will be given to the first 500 customers.

Child Safe of Central Missouri will be receiving a $10,000 donation from T.J. Maxx at a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sunday at 7:30 a.m. "We are especially excited because Child Safe has been chosen to receive a grant from the TJX Foundation to celebrate the event!  We are thrilled to have another business in our community who is giving back and making a difference," said Kim Allen, executive director of Child Safe of Central Missouri.

The new store will also join all other stores nationwide in sponsoring Save the Children’s U.S. Programs. T.J.Maxx also supports Save the Children, Autism Speaks and Joslin Diabetes Center with annual in-store fundraising campaigns.

A press release from T.J. Maxx says the store plans to add about 60 full and part-time jobs to the area.
