Fatal Accident Involving a Pedestrian Reported By The Missouri State Highway Patrol Monday Morning

At 6:46am Monday morning the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported an accident on Eastbound US-50 Highway a half mile West of Davies Road in Pettis County involving a pedestrian. According to the report the accident occurred as a 2007 Freightliner Daycab struck a pedestrian identified as 54-year-old Daniel J. Dekeyser of Lamont who had been thrown into its driving lane from a previous crash. According to the previous crash report, Dekeyser was pushing a disabled 1999 Mazda accross the highway when he and the Mazda were struck by a 2009 Kenworth T660. Dekeyser was then thrown into the driving lane where he was struck by the Freightliner. Dekeyser was pronounced deceased at 7:40am Monday morning by Pettis County Coroner Skip Smith. The body was taken to the Pettis County Coroner's Office.
