Fatality Accident Reported in Benton County Over the Weekend

On Saturday afternoon (Oct. 19), the Missouri State highway Patrol reported a two-vehicle fatality accident on Missouri Highway 7 at Route “DD” in Benton County. The accident reportedly occurred as the 2007 Mercury Montego driven by 79-year-old Preston Duckworth of Edwards attempted to make a left turn onto Route “DD”, and pulled into the path of a 1995 Chevrolet pickup driven by 56-year-old James Barnes of Warsaw.

Duckworth was flown to the University Hospital by Air Ambulance where he was pronounced deceased. Barnes received minor injuries in the accident and was taken to Bothwell Hospital by private vehicle for treatment.
