Fern Munson, 96, of Sedalia, formerly of Jefferson City, died Saturday, August 24, 2013, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

She was born May 27, 1917, in Stanford, IL, the daughter of the late Louis Thomas and Eleta (Layton) Bayles. On December 17, 1939, in Bloomington, IL, she was married to Charles “Chuck” Munson, who preceded her in death on February 4, 1975.

She was a graduate of Stanford Community High School and was a 1938 graduate of the Mennonite School of Nursing. She was a registered professional nurse at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. After retiring in 1980, she moved to the Lake of the Ozarks. She was an avid gardener and artist. She was a member of the Sunrise Beach Garden Club. She later moved to Jefferson City and returned to Sedalia to be near her children. She was Methodist.

Fern will be remembered for her medical knowledge, kind disposition, artistic ability, gardening, and loving her family. Everyone that knew her loved her. She will be missed.

She is survived by a son, Tom Munson (Becky), of Sedalia; three grandchildren, Randy Saucier, (Lynn), of Holts Summit, Kristine Munson (Carlos Lopez), of Trinidad, CO, and Jason Munson (Cory), of Raytown; five great-grandsons, Alex, Finn, Cael, Logan and Liam.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Myra Saucier; four brothers and one sister.

The body will be cremated and there will be no services.
