Chicago – President and Chief Executive Officer of Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall, Mo., Ronald A. Ott has been recognized as one of the top hospital executives in America. Ott was included in a Jan. 26 article in Becker’s Hospital Review featuring the names and short biographies of the top 50 rural hospital leaders in the country. The article, titled “50 rural hospital CEOs to know” cited selection based on the individual’s dedication to advancing healthcare in small towns and rural communities, leadership positions held and organizational performance.

Ott, who received the Missouri Hospital Association’s Visionary Leadership Award in 2013, is among just three CEOs from the state of Missouri to be named on this year’s list. The others were Paul Taylor, JD., and CEO of Ozark Community Hospital in Springfield, Mo., and Thomas Keim, CEO of St. Genevieve Community Hospital in St. Genevieve, Mo.

Ott has been with Fitzgibbon Hospital for more than 20 years. During his time at the helm of Fitzgibbon Hospital, he has helped expand access to care by establishing three health clinics in nearby rural communities that are staffed by hospital-employed professionals. He also oversaw the completion of a new hospital in the 1990s and a new medical office building in 2013.

Individuals included CEOs and administrators of hospitals located outside of a major metropolitan areas or healthcare hubs. This is the second edition of the "Rural Hospital CEOs to Know" list.
