Five-Hour Standoff In Pacific Comes To An End

PACIFIC, Mo. (AP) — A Franklin County man has been arrested following a five-hour standoff. Sheriff Gary Toelke says a woman reported Sunday that James Fitzgerald ran over in a parking lot south of Pacific. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities say the man called several people and told them he was suicidal and armed with a high-powered rifle. Fitzgerald is charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action.
