A former Missouri state prison inmate says she was repeatedly raped by a guard and then by a counselor she went to for help.

Karen Keil says in a federal lawsuit filed this week that the guard, Edward Bearden, raped her more than 20 times while she was serving a six-year prison term at Chillicothe Correctional Center.

She says when she sought help the counselor, John Thomas Dunn, also raped her. Keil is also suing unnamed Missouri correction department employees and the contractor who provided mental health services at the time.

The Kansas City Star reports Dunn pleaded guilty last year to sexual conduct with a prisoner. His attorney says Keil was not the victim in that case.

The Missouri Department of Corrections says it doesn’t comment on pending litigation.
