Former State Fair Community College Roadrunner Marcus Mondaine has signed to play basketball for the University of Saint Mary, an NAIA school in Leavenworth, Kansas. The Kansas City native came to SFCC as a walk-on before earning a scholarship for his sophomore season.

As a sophomore, Mondaine helped the Roadrunners to the program’s most successful season in history. The team finished the year with a 26-7 record, Region 16 regular season and tournament championships, a district championship, and a win at the 2014 Division I Men’s Basketball national championship, a first for the program. He played in 30 games as a sophomore, averaging 2.2 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.

Mondaine played in 16 games as a freshman. He averaged 3.1 points and 1.9 rebounds per contest and shot 73.1 percent from the field.

“Marcus is one of my all-time favorite players,” said Roadrunners Head Coach Kevin Thomas. “He is a guy of few words, but his actions on the floor told me that he was committed to the team. He did not play much as a freshman, but he never complained and always worked hard. He did everything we asked him to do and always competed at a high level. He was one of the hardest workers on the team as a sophomore. I think Saint Mary is getting a good player and an even better person.”
