Frank Nathaniel Lyon, Jr., 69, of Lincoln, MO passed away Wednesday, July 8th, 2015 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, MO. He was born on February 11, 1946 in Norfolk, Virginia, the son of Frank Nathaniel Lyon, Sr., who preceded him in death and Catherine Banks-Lyon, who survives of Goodlettsville, TN.

On March 4, 1979 in Stockbridge, GA, he was united in marriage to Janice C. Denton, who survives of Lincoln.

Frank worked for Freedom Communications from 1980 to 2001. During that time, he worked for the News Herald Newspaper in Panama City, FL. He went on to become the general manager for the McAllen Monitor in McAllen, TX, and then worked as the Publisher of the Sedalia Democrat from 1995 to 2001. Frank was the past president of the Sedalia Rotary Club and in 2001 he was the president of the Pettis County United Way. In his free time, he enjoyed going fishing, going to the beach, and boating. He was an avid Kansas City Royals and Chiefs fan and loved attending the Super Bowl every year. Frank served his country honorably in the United States Navy between 1966 and 1973. He served aboard the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam War.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, Shannon Powell (Monica) of Garden Grove, CA; daughter, Gabrielle Hesse (Joshua) of Lincoln, MO; two sisters, Barbara Hambrick (Jonathan) of Georgia and Debbie Sizemore (Donnie) of Goodlettsville, TN; and two grandsons, Nathaniel and Mackson Hesse of Lincoln, MO

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Vivian Dunbrack.

A celebration of life gathering of friends and family will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Nathaniel and Mackson Hesse Trust Fund in care of Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
