A free program to help community and faith-based organizations prepare and serve safe foods will be held at State Fair Community College this Wednesday.

According to a press release from the Pettis County Health Center, there will be two sessions. The first program session will begin at 2:00 p.m, with the second session at 6:00 p.m. Both sessions will take place in the Thompson Conference Center at SFCC on Wednesday, March 7.

During the program, participants will have the opportunity to learn about common mistakes that can cause food to become contaminated and lead to illness.

The Health Center says that preparing food for a large number of people requires extra attention to the details of food safety to prevent an outbreak of illness.

To make sure there is enough material for everyone attending, call the Pettis County Health Center at 827-1130 to register. The informational program is free to attend and the same material will be presented at both sessions.

The program is being sponsored by the Pettis County Health Center and State Fair Community College Small Business and Technology Development Centers.
