This week, the Game of the Week travels to Lafayette County where the Higginsville Huskers will play host to the Boonville Pirates. Higginsville looks to carry the momentum from their week one win against the Concordia Orioles, while Boonville has a lot to prove after a disappointing loss to California.

Last week, Higginsville won a hard fought game against Concordia 42-26, while Boonville struggled against California and lost 42-7. In recent memory, Higginsville has built a football powerhouse and is always in contention for a run through the state playoffs. Boonville was young last year, but many of those players return this year with that playing experience.

Boonville is expected to have a big year with senior quarterback Jacob Francis and his favorite target Tyler Peterson. Boonville averaged 24 points a game last year and an impressive 246 rushing yards per game. Another name to remember for Boonville is senior newcomer Andreus Boykin, sharing time in the backfield with Dakota Meyer who averaged 5.1 yards per carry last year.

Higginsville will make another run towards the Dome this year for the State Finals. They only lost one game last year in the state playoffs to end their season.

Tune in for the Game of the Week this Friday night (Sept. 6). The pregame show will start at 6:45 p.m. with kickoff at 7 p.m.
