Georgia R. Kurtz Quint, 92, of Sedalia, died Friday, September 14, 2012, at Fair View Nursing Home.

She was born July 27, 1920, in Mexico, MO, a daughter of the late Cephos C. and Nora Mae (Stewart) Gibbins. In June 1939, in Sedalia, she married Raymond Kurtz, who died July 1972. In May 1975, she married Leonard Quint, who died March 1992.

She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. She sang in the church choir from 1969 until March of 2005, was chairman of various fundraisers for many years, was head of the quilters, and taught Sunday School from 1969 until 1997. She worked at Town & Country Shoes, Meadow Gold Dairy, and Goodheart’s Jewelry. She was a charter member of the Golden Entertainers and Helping Hands. She was a member of Eastern Star Lodge #57 and past member of music club and Guys and Gals. She liked to sew, quilt, cook, bowl and watch TV, especially the Royals.

She is survived by two sons, Virgil Wray Kurtz, and his wife, Judy, of Sedalia, Gene Edward Kurtz, and his wife, Cindy, of Summerville, SC; a step-daughter, Joyce Ann Rucker, and her husband, John, of Sedalia; three grandchildren, Jaimie Kurtz and Mike Kurtz, of San Diego, CA, and Brianna Kurtz, of Manhattan, NY; a step-grandson, Steve Rucker, of Sedalia; and two step great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, John Wesley Gibbins.

Funeral services will be 10 am, Monday, September 17, 2012, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Shelby Seelinger and Rev. Wayne Colflesh officiating. Pallbearers will be Steve Rucker, Cody Meyer, James Starke, Dean Roe, Johnny Bribiesca and Ellis Tilman. Burial will follow in Smithton Cemetery.

Friends may call after 12 noon on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 2pm-4pm.
