Gerald H. Hamby, Sr. age 76 of Sedalia passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the University Of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.

He was born on March 28, 1937 in Sedalia son of Adolph and Hazel Dumsday Hamby. Gerald was employed at Rival Mgf. Company for thirty-two years until their closing.

Joe was saved and baptized at a young age and lived his life helping anyone in need. He also lived each day to provide the best for his two children Gina and Joe and his granddaughter Gabby. Joe never knew a stranger. He enjoyed life and had a good sense of humor.

He was an avid St Louis Cardinal fan and never missed a game on the radio. He also loved wrestling, old westerns, country and gospel music. Joe will be greatly missed by the many friends and extended family in his life.

He is survived by one son: Gerald H. Hamby, Jr. of Sedalia, three sisters: Deanna Neff (Daniel) of Sedalia, Patricia Faust (Harold) of Hamburg, Pennsylvania, Margaret Chilcoat of Sedalia, one granddaughter: Gabriel Hamby. He was preceded by one daughter: Gina Hamby, two brothers: Robert Hamby and Richard Hamby, ex wife: Pamela (Penny) Hamby.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 6, 2014 at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with Rev. John William Dumsday, lll. Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens. Friends may call from 9:30 A.M. until service time Monday.

Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Dumsday, ll, Robert Dumsday, lll, Richie Dumsday, Leonard Chilcoat, Brandon Chilcoat and Corey Chilcoat. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Neff, Jimmy Dumsday, Bob Dumsday and Gabby Hamby.
