The Roadrunners hosted the Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzlies in a Region 16 and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference game on Feb. 8. SFCC (11-14, 0-6 in Region 16, 2-6 in the MCCAC) fell to the Grizzlies 94-84.

With eight minutes left in first half, the Roadrunners led 29-19; at halftime they led 42-33 and were shooting 56 percent from the field.

"We missed some assignments in the first half, but we did a good job guarding," said Head Coach Kevin Thomas. "We were active and able to get our hands on the ball. In the second half we didn't guard West Plains, and they continued to get easy baskets. We gave up 61 points in the second half."

The Grizzlies made 62.9 percent of their shots in the second half and took the lead 55-50 with 13 minutes left in the game.

Freshman guard Onteral Woodson Jr. led four Roadrunners in double-figure scoring with 24 points. Freshman guard Russell Baker contributed 19 points. He tied for the team lead in steals with two along with sophomore guard Vonny Irvin and freshman forward Jamar Kemp.

Sophomore forward Amir Smith registered a double-double with 17 points and a team-high 14 rebounds. He also led the team in blocked shots with five. Irvin added 13 points. Baker led in assists with six.

SFCC will be back in action at home at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 15 for a game against Indian Hills Community College.
