Guy Randel Shipman, 72, of Sedalia, died Friday, January 10, 2014, at Fairview Nursing Home, Sedalia.  He was born on March 23, 1941, in Hardeman County, Texas, a son of Chas Daniel and Eva (Cross) Shipman.

When he was five, he moved with his family to Colorado, and then to Missouri in 1966.  He married Elizabeth Yount in 1966 and this union was blessed with four children:  Patty, Jerry, Clifford, and Marjorie.

Guy worked at American Compressed Steel in Sedalia for 27 years before retiring.  He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, working with crafts, building things with his hands, and visiting with his kids and grandkids.

He is survived by: his companion of twelve years, Rosalie Graves of Sedalia; two daughters, Parry Redinger of Sedalia and Marjorie Shipman and her companion David Kowalski of Mora; two sons, Jerry Shipman and his wife Debbie of Hawk Point and Clifford Shipman and his wife Evon of Clinton; three sisters; two brothers; fourteen grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother.

Committal services will be held at a later date at the Missouri State Veteran's Cemetery in Higginsville.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.
