Hannibal Police say the investigation into a body found at a home on Broadway is now a homicide investigation.

Police describe the victim as an elderly male but his identity is being withheld until family confirmation or, if necessary, identity is confirmed by forensic means. Police were called to 2034 Broadway at 2:57 p.m. on Tuesday after a deceased adult male was found in the house. Police say the residence was believed to be a vacant property when the body was found.

Police say evidence gathered so far indicates this is an isolated incident and does not pose a threat to the community at large. The investigation continues. Hannibal Police plan to release additional information as appropriate.

Officers were called to 2034 Broadway at 2:57 pm to investigate the discovery a deceased adult male found in the residence. The residence was believed to have been a vacant property prior to the discovery of the deceased. The investigation is in the initial stages so further information regarding this incident will be released at a later date.

A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
