Tomorrow (Nov. 11) is Veteran's Day, however today (Nov. 10) is also a special day for the United States Marine Corps. It was established on this day in history before the United States was even the United States. It was called the Continental Marines and formed on Nov. 10, 1775.

While we honor all the Vets of each branch of service this week, please take the time to pause and thank a Marine for their service.

Growing up I have to say I knew fewer people in the Marines than any other branch, but there was also a saying of "The Few, The Proud, The Marines."  I find this to be true of anybody I know in the Marines. They look at their service with reverence and pride and love the lifestyle of being ready to step into harms way if ever needed.

It is also during this time of the year that the Marines make a big push toward the Toys for Tots Program. With this one program collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community. I hope where you're at that you donate when you see a Marine standing guard next to a Toys For Tots box.

Today, I say Happy Birthday to those in the U.S Marines and say thanks.
