The National Weather Service issued red flag warnings earlier this week, which is an awareness to not burn items during the designated times. The early arrival of spring brought up about warm weather, low relative humidity and very little rain, which causes dry conditions. We are not currently under a red flag warning, but Sedalia/Pettis County EMA Director, David Clippert would like for you to be careful still.

Although the Red Flag Warning issued for yesterday has been allowed to expire, Pettis County is still in a heightened Fire Danger today. Low humidity, and gusty winds can spread a grass fire rapidly. Please do not open burn today. It is possible we may see some rain tomorrow, but at the moment it’s not looking like much.
