Helen L. Darby, 93, of Sedalia, died Sunday, August 3, 2014, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

She was born July 28, 1921, in Florence, a daughter of the late Aubrey Otto and Pearl Marie (Cramer) Otten. She was married to Kenneth Wilson Darby, who preceded her in death in 1970.

She was an accomplished quilter, piecing and quilting by hand. She was a knowledgeable collector of antiques and appreciated old glass. She was an avid bridge and pitch player.

She is survived by five nieces and nephews, Yvonne Marcum (George), of Lee’s Summit, Ron Otten (Sandy), Mark Otten (Gay), Rebecca Otten and Thomas Otten, all of Sedalia.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Calvin Otto Otten, Aubrey Lee Otten, and an infant brother; two sisters-in-law, Laverne Otten and Ramona Otten; a nephew, Gregory Otten; and a niece, Deborah Otten.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Highland Sacred Gardens with Rev. Robert Sisney officiating. Pallbearers will be Ron Otten, Mark Otten, Tom Otten, Matt Otten, Uriah Otten and George Marcum. There will be no visitation.

The family wishes to thank Meals on Wheels for their service; and the ladies of the State Fair Card Club that provided transportation to and from the card games when Helen was no longer able to drive.
