Master Sgt. Henry Pozenel USAF (Ret), 89 of Sedalia, MO passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 19, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Miller as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery, where full military honors will be given by the United State Air Force. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time Friday at the church. Family and friends are requested to meet at the church. The family suggests memorial contributions to Bothwell Hospice and/ or Pettis County Animal Shelter. Memorials may be left at or mailed to McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, 519 South Ohio St., Sedalia, MO 65301.

Henry was born September 27, 1923, in Sheboygan, WI, the son of the late Joseph and Louise Lustig Pozenel. On September 7, 1955, in Marshall, MO, he married Dorothy M. Shapley, who preceded him in death on December 10, 1993.

Henry served his country in the United States Air Force. He was enlisted July 8, 1942 in Milwaukee, WI.  He served with a troop carrier squadron in the U.S. and Pacific. He served as airplane engineer on the C-46 and C-47 airplanes. He made inspections on plane on the ground and in flight. He received the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, AAF Air Crew Member Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award w/4 Bronze OLC, Air Force Commendation Medal and the Academy Graduate Ribbon. He was honorable discharged on October 31, 1965, as a MSGT.

He worked for McDonnell Douglas for many years as an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor.

Henry was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  He belonged to the Disabled American Veterans, Moose Lodge #1494 and a life time member of the V.F.W. #2591 all of Sedalia, MO.

Henry enjoyed spending time playing Bingo, visiting the casinos and spending time with family.

Henry is survived by his daughters Saranne Anderson (Charles); Robin Thomas and Steve; Joanelle Hall all of Sedalia, MO and Dottie Stevenson of TN; son Rex Shapley (Betty) of Sedalia; daughter-in-law Betty Shapely of Sedalia, MO; he and his wife raised a granddaughter Tabitha until she was 14 years of age, along with 20 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.

Henry was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 3 sisters; son Charles Shapely; grandson Jarret Stevenson and son-in-law Dean Hall.
