Hilmer Alfred Hobein, 87, of Cole Camp, died Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Golden Age Living Center, Stover.  He was born on June 11, 1927, at Otterville, Missouri, a son of Alfred and Minnie (Schnakenberg) Hobein.  He was baptized shortly after his birth at the Otterville Hospital by his grandmother, Katharina Hobein.

He attended Lake Creek Public and Holy Cross schools.  On February 14, 1956, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Cole Camp, he was united in marriage to Florine Oelrichs.  This union was blessed with three daughters:  Carolyn, Debbie, and Patty.

Hilmer was a faithful member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of rural Cole Camp and had served as an elder, trustee and on the financial committee.  He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed fishing, teasing the girls with his bullfrog call, making fruit salads and peanut clusters, and malts for the grandkids.

He is survived by:
his wife, Florine Hobein of the home;
three daughters, Carolyn Dieckman and her husband Marvin of Cole Camp, Debbie Eckhoff and her husband Paul of Stover, and Patty Burnett and her husband Ernie of Lincoln;
seven grandchildren, Michael Dieckman and his wife Bridget, Curt Dieckman and his wife Jillian, Chris Dieckman and his wife Ami, Miranda (Eckhoff) Bolinger and her husband Wes, Erin Eckhoff, Ben Burnett, and Brian Burnett; and
eight great-grandchildren, Jason, Andrea, Melanie, Barrett, Ebbe, Gentry, Colton, and Dakota (Kodi).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Minnie Hobein, his step-mother, Pauline (Meyer) Hobein, his sister, Lorna May Hobein, his two brothers, Baby Boy Hobein and Ervin Alfred Hobein, and a granddaughter, Kayla Eckhoff.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, rural Cole Camp, with Pastor Michael Boothby officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery, rural Cole Camp.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at the Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp, with a prayer service to begin at 7:00 p.m.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Holy Cross Lutheran Church Project Fund or Our Savior Lutheran Radio Ministry in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.

Pallbearers will be Michael Dieckman, Curt Dieckman, Chris Dieckman, Ben Burnett, Brian Burnett, and Wes  Bolinger.  Honorary pallbearers will be Miranda Bolinger, Erin Eckhoff, Bridget Dieckman, Jillian Dieckman, and Ami Dieckman.
