Hit & Run Suspect Arrested After Crash at 50 & State Fair Boulevard

Sedalia Police arrested a Kingdom City man March 9 at 7:37 a.m. at Taco Bell after he was involved in a hit-and-run accident at Broadway and State Fair Blvd.

Witnesses say Michael A. Ayers, 21, was the driver of an eastbound white 2010 Ford Focus that ran a red light and collided with a southbound 2016 Dodge R15 driven by Kenneth O'Dell of Sedalia. Wilma O'Dell was his passenger.

After striking the Dodge, witnesses said Ayers pulled into the lot behind Creative Audio, exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers located Ayers walking through the Taco Bell lot, 820 S. Limit, and took him into custody without incident.

Felony charges of leaving the scene of an accident, driving while suspended, disobeying an electronic traffic signal and no proof of insurance are being sought against Ayers.

The Dodge sustained moderate to extensive damage and was towed from the scene.

The Focus was also towed and a dog inside Ayers' vehicle was taken to the animal shelter.
