Houstonia Teen Injured in 3-Vehicle Accident

A 14-year old Houstonia resident was injured in a 3-vehicle accident that occurred Tuesday afternoon in Saline County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the wreck at 12:00, on Highway 65 north of 145th Road.

According to the online crash report, all vehicles were northbound when a deer entered the road. A 2011 Dodge Avenger and a 2017 Chevy Equinox began to slow down for the animal, when a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 struck the rear of the Avenger, causing it to strike the rear of the Equinox.

A passenger in the Dodge Ram, 14-year old Cole A. Murphy, suffered minor injuries. Murphy was taken to Fitzgibbon Hospital for treatment.

All others involved were reportedly uninjured. Murphy was wearing a safety device.
