Today is our Independence Day, so Happy Fourth of July.  I know with the weather it may not by the typical Fourth of July,  but it is here none the less.  Many of you probably have the day off to spend with friends and family, some of you will have limited hours, others will be working all day.

I plan to do a combination of those, as I will be at the Old Fashioned Fourth of July at Centennial Park in Sedalia from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m., with the event going on til at least 4.   There will be all kinds of games, picnic items and music, and don't forget the parade in Downtown Sedalia at 10 a.m.

Ordinarily I will shoot off fireworks, but I decided this year to just enjoy the public displays and as of right now, most ot the public displays are still taking place since they have extra fire department personnel on site.   Thanks to the Sedalia Fire Department and Pettis County Volunteer Department for ensuring the fireworks will take place at the Missouri State Fairgrounds, which starts at 7 p.m. with Rumblestrip playing country and rock.

One thing I'm really looking forward to is grilling up bratwurst and hanging out with the family later this afternoon and seeing the fireworks.   About the only other activity that I normally do is watch the big Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, where I'm always amazed at how many hot dogs they eat.  I myself will be satisfied with just two.

In the end, I hope you have an enjoyable and Happy Fourth of July!
