Howard Allen, 83, of Sedalia, passed away Sunday evening, March 22, 2015, at Good Samaritan Care Center in Cole Camp.

He was born May 18, 1931, in Mountainburg, AR, son of Ernest and Minnie Belle Self Allen. On April 2, 1960, in Kansas City, MO, he married Barbara A. Swanson, who survives of the home.

Mr. Allen worked for many years as a driver salesman for Sedalia Fruit Co. Later he worked for Wire Rope Corp, from where he retired. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. He served in the Army during the Korean War.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Mark Allen, of Dallas, TX; two grandchildren, Corinna Allen and Patrick Allen, both of Rolla; and three siblings, Frances Provence, of Mountainburg, AR, Flora Beckett, of Shelbyville, TX, and Marion Allen, of Moravian Falls, NC.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Carin Allen; and siblings, Carl Allen, Clarence Allen, Harold Allen, Janie Parr, Jewell Ray and Trella Reeves.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Craig Bowen officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 Saturday, March 28, at Locke Community Building in Mountainburg, AR, followed by burial in Locke Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Bethany Baptist Church Building Fund.
