On Christmas Eve, deputies in Moniteau County arrested a 44-year old Holts Summit man for possession of methamphetamine.

According to the Moniteau County Sheriff's Department, deputies received a report of a possible stranded motorist on Hwy 87 just south of Highway 50. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a woman who stated the vehicle was out of fuel.

As authorities spoke with the woman, there were reportedly conflicting statements about the driver, who had already left the scene.

A short time later, deputies located a man walking near S. Oak Street in California, MO and identified him as the driver of the vehicle. Deputies took the man back to the scene and reportedly asked for consent to search the vehicle, which was denied. A K-9 Unit was then dispatched and gave a positive alert for drugs in the car. Further investigation revealed meth and marijuana inside the car.

The driver, 44-year old Erik W. Case, was arrested and taken to the Moniteau County Jail. Case faces charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance (meth) and Driving While Suspended. He was given a bond of $25,000.00.
