James Eugene Eaton, 87, of La Monte, Mo., passed away Friday, January 31, 2014 at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia. He was born on March 31, 1926, a son of Carl and Stella Eaton.

On January 16, 1946 in Berenalo, NM he was united in marriage to Wilda.

James graduated from Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, IA, in 1966. He owned and operated a family practice in Great Bend, KS and Blanco, NM, for more than 35 years. He also practiced nutrition at Healthy Habits, Sedalia for the past 7 years.  James loved to minister to sick people and help make them well. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Sedalia. He was also a Gideon, a member of the 40 & 8, and a member of the Functional Medicine Institute. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy through the Second World War as a Coxswain and received a Silver Star in the South Pacific.

Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Glenda Greene (Tom) of Oklahoma, Virginia Sue Walz (Tom) of Sedalia, Eunice Carter (Rick) of Mustang, OK, Annetta Halzle of La Monte; one sister, Fern Laughlin of Farmington, NM; one brother, Paul Eaton of Virginia; fourteen grandchildren; and thirty-six great grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Doris Eckles; four brothers, Andrew Eaton, Jerry Eaton, John Eaton, and David Eaton.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church, Sedalia, with Pastor Ted Francis officiating.
