Janet L. Kortum, 63

Janet L. Kortum, 63, of West Chester, OH, passed away September 13, 2013, at her home.

She was born August 24, 1950, in Sedalia, daughter of Wayne H. and Lela F. Buffon Byrd. On September 10, 1977, in Sedalia, she married Dale M. Kortum, who survives of the home.

Janet was a 1968 graduate of Northwest High School. She was a U.S. Navy veteran. She volunteered as the office coordinator at the Hamilton County Salvation Army. She enjoyed gardening and reading.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two children, Christopher Kortum, of the home, and Heather Kortum, of Columbus, OH; her mother, Lela Byrd, of Warsaw; three sisters, Carolyn Miller, of Sedalia, Barbara Pile, of Sedalia, and Anita Parish, of Warsaw; and a brother, David Byrd, of Sedalia.

She was preceded in death by her father; and a brother, Roger Byrd.

Graveside services with military honors will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 19, at Crown Hill Cemetery, with Jeff Page, Funeral Celebrant officiating.
