Jessie Mae Goist, 98 of Sedalia passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Lincoln Community Care Center. She was born on September 30, 1914 in Moran, KS, a daughter of Samuel C. and Cornelia B. (Starkey) Meador.

On May 30, 1934 in Sedalia, she was united in marriage to Carl R. Goist, who preceded her in death on April 12, 1985.

Jessie and her late husband, Carl, ran a Radio Business for almost 51 years. After her husband's passing, she traveled to nine countries. Jessie was a strong volunteer and member of many organizations. She was the past president of the Helen G. Steele Music Club, past president and member of BRHC Auxiliary, past president, secretary, treasurer and member of the Sedalia Knife and Fork Club. She was also a member of Business and Professional Women, Elks Ladies BPOE Lodge 125 of Sedalia, Amateur Radio Club (call letters-WONUY), Pettis County Diabetic Branch and Sorosis. She served as chairman of the Pettis County Six Year Cancer Prevention Study, and as Director on the Heard Memorial Club House. Jessie enjoyed teaching First Aid for The American Red Cross, operating HAM radios, and was a proud member of East Sedalia Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son-in-law, Charles (Joyce) Plumb, of Kentucky and three nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Ann Plumb on January 2, 1957; one sister, Anna Sanders; and two brothers: John Meador and William "Bill" Meador; three nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, July 8, 2013 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, with Pastor Eddie Brown officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: C.H. Williams, Don Morton, Joe Hart, George Brady, great nephews- Bruce Sanders and Brent Sanders, Honorary bearers will be: Bill Jackson and Greg Padgett.

Memorial Contributions are suggested to the  American Diabetes Association , in care of the funeral chapel.
