Jimmy Dale Boyer, 79, of Sedalia, died Monday, September 16, 2013 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013 at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Sisney officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel.

Born April 24, 1934 in Judsonia, AR, he was the son of the late William Washington and Ruth Mae Woodward Boyer. On March 13, 1956 in Warrensburg, he married Mary Alice Miller, who survives of the home. Also surviving are a son, Jimmy Dale Boyer, II, of Oakville, MO; a daughter, Janet Marie Friedlander, of Hughesville; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Middleton, of Nevada and Ruby Clara, of Arizona; two half brothers, Charles and Bill Supfhan; 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Elizabeth Brown; and a brother, Donald Boyer.

Mr. Boyer was a member of Broadway Baptist Church. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad for many years as a carpenter with the bridge builders. He was a member of Sedalia Masonic Lodge 236. He had many friends and always enjoyed striking up a conversation with them. He also had a great love for animals, especially his cats Junior and Baby.
