John N. “Nick” Karson, 60, of Sedalia, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born July 27, 1952, in Kansas City, MO, a son of James C. and Evelyne L. (Moore) Karson. On July 29, 1972, in Overland Park, KS, he married Kathy Younger, who survives of the home.

He was a graduate of Bishop Miege High School. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church. He  and his wife owned Orion Print Finishing. He was vice president of Cookbook Publishers and a sales executive for PrintLynx.

Nick knew how to enjoy life to the fullest. He was a big part of many Liberty Center shows. He acted, directed and served as President of the Sedalia Community Theatre. He participated in The Nerd, Camelot, Peter Pan, and most recently, Tuesdays with Morrie as well as many others. He rocked out with his band mates from Mr. Mojo Man. He loved playing his guitar and singing by the campfire. He loved golfing and cheering on the Jayhawks. He turned his yard into a beautiful, relaxing oasis where he loved playing in the pool with his grandkids and watching sunsets with his wife. It was always his family that brought him the most joy.

In addition to his wife, Kathy, he is survived by his mother, Evelyne Karson; three children, Kelly Karson, and her fiancé, Mike Davies, Jeff Karson, and his wife, Martha, and Mike Karson, and his wife, Paige; three brothers, Terry Karson, Jamie Karson and Chris Karson,; two sisters, Kathy Lewis and Jody Thurman; four grandchildren, Trey, Elyas, Matea and Althea.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Karson; a brother, David Karson, and a sister Penny Riederer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am, Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Sacred Heart Church with Father Mark Miller officiating. Pallbearers will be Trey Karson, Jim McCarty, Kyle Herrick, Rusty Petree, Jim Cardone and Grant Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Clark and Scotty Calder. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Prayers of the rosary will begin at 4:30 pm, Friday, March 15, 2013, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with visitation to follow until 8 pm.
