John P. Monahan, 61, of Wichita, KS, died Saturday, January 18, 2014, at his home.  He was born on April 25, 1952, at Kansas City, Kansas, a son of James and Bonnie (Throckmorton)  Monahan.

As a young child, the family moved to Cole Camp, MO, where he attended the Benton County R-1.  In 1970, he graduated from high school in Lincoln, NE, and joined the United States Army Reserves.  He completed basic training in Fort Ord, CA, and was discharged in 1976.  He received his Master's Degree in Computer Technology in Wichita, KS.  He retired in April of 2013 as a network technician for USD 259 in Wichita, KS.   John was a member of the Church of the Magdalen, Wichita, KS.

He is survived by:  his wife, Donna Monahan of the home;
his parents, James and Bonnie Monahan of Cole Camp;
two daughters, Kelly Dickson and her husband Eric of Wichita, KS, and Amy Bennett and her husband Aaron of Hutchinson, KS;
two sons, James Monahan and his wife Jessica and Todd Molony and his wife Lisa, all of Wichita, KS;
his brother, Michael Monahan of Tuscon, AZ; and
eight grandchildren, Steven, Devon, Brooklyn, Michael, Alexandria, Andrew, Allison, and Madison.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Burg.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2014, at Church of the Magdalen, Wichita, KS.  Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2014, in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Cole Camp, with military honors by the American Legion Post No. 305 of Cole Camp.

The family will receive friends from 5 -7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, Downing and Lahey East Chapel, Wichita, KS.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Lutheran School Association in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.
