Just after 2:00 Tuesday afternoon (June 26), Johnson County Fire Protection District stations 1 and 10 were dispatched to a residential structure fire just south of Warrensburg.

According to a post on the Johnson Co. Fire Protection District's Faceboook page, the reporting party witnessed a lightning strike during a severe storm and observed flames on the exterior of the residence.

Fire crews arrived and discovered fire involvement on the exterior of the residence including the natural gas meter.

Fire personnel say the blaze was extinguished with minimal damage to the interior of the residence. During Tuesday's severe weather, JCFPD responded to five incidents related to the storm. No injuries have been reported.
