A Joplin woman and her boyfriend have been charged with first-degree murder in the death of her husband, whose body was found in a mine hole in June.

The Joplin Globe reports 28-year-old Ginger Slater and 33-year-old TerryRay Riggle were charged Friday in the death of Jonny Slater, who had been missing since September 2014. The 45-year-old man's remains were found in the mine hole near Carterville in June.

A probable-cause affidavit says Ginger Slater went to see her husband at his home and left the door open. According to the affidavit, Riggle slipped into the home and strangled Jonny Slater.

Slater and Riggle are being held on cash bonds of $1 million. Online court records don't indicate that they have attorneys.
