Joseph William Bass age 84 of Sedalia passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014 at the Springfield Specialty Hospital in Springfield, MO.

He was born on January 20, 1930 in Houstonia, MO son of Henry O. and Alice B. Cantrell Bass. He was married on August 13, 1955 in Sedalia to Ruby Marie Sickler and she preceded him in death on December 4, 2002.

Joe graduated from Smith Cotton High School in 1949. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was a lieutenant on the Sedalia Police Department retiring in April 1986. He served on the Major Case Squad and was a firearms instructor. He was a member of the Sedalia Kennel Club, Fraternal Order Of Police and former member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed training dogs and auctioneering.

He loved spending time with his family. He is survived by one daughter; Lila Alicia Marie Stewart (Kevin) of Wheatland, MO, one son; Michael Allen Clark (Louise) of Sardis, Mississippi, one granddaughter, one grandson, one great grandson.

He was preceded by two brothers; Charles H. Bass and Freddie O. Bass. Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. Saturday at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with David Bass officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Anderson, Robert Clark, Jack Jones, Michael Bass and Don Bass.
