Joyce Irene Williams, 72, of Sedalia, formerly of Green Ridge, died Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

She was born February 14, 1940, in Green Ridge, a daughter of the late Thomas W. and Katherine Irene Fisher Williams. On June 8, 1958, at East Sedalia Baptist Church, she married Robert C. Williams, who preceded her in death on May 16, 2004.

Joyce was raised and educated in Green Ridge. She was a 1958 graduate of Green Ridge High School. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church and served on the church kitchen committee and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s school activities, and playing cards and dominoes with her church friends.

She is survived by three children, Bret Williams, and his wife, Mary K., Robbie Williams, all of Sedalia, and Kathy Rumsey, and her husband, Kyle, of Smithton; a brother, Lloyd Williams, and his wife, Shirley, of Adrian; and a special companion, Paul Zimmerschied, of Sedalia; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 pm, Monday, January 28, 2013, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ted Francis officiating. Pallbearers will be Roger Williams, Tom Williams, John Birdwell, Joe Dove, Barry Henderson, Warren Dizney and Robert Curtis. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Savannah Williams, Meredith Rumsey, Nash Williams, Harley Rumsey, Carter Rumsey and Maverick Rumsey. Burial will follow in Green Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call after 10 am, Monday, at the funeral chapel, where the family will receive friends from noon until service time.
